A New Year, 2026 ND and NT stress
When Two Worlds Miss Each Other
Two Brains, One Home — And a Lot of Miscommunication
Stress can build quickly when neurodivergent and neurotypical people interpret the same situation in completely different ways. These misunderstandings aren’t personal failures — they’re simply the result of two nervous systems processing the world differently. As pressure increases, each person naturally leans into their own coping style, which can unintentionally make the other feel ignored, criticised, or overwhelmed. This mismatch can leave partners, families, and even colleagues feeling disconnected or hurt, even though everyone is genuinely trying their best. But none of this means anyone is “too much”, “too sensitive”, or “not trying hard enough”. These patterns are real, recognised, and absolutely workable. Support, tools, and guidance exist for homes and workplaces alike — and with the right understanding, ND and NT people can thrive together rather than struggle apart.

CASSANDRA SYNDROME
Cassandra refused Apollo's advances. Furious, Apollo could not take back a divine gift, so he cursed her instead: she would always speak the truth of the future, but no one would ever believe her.

NEURODIVERSITY/NEUROTYPICAL AND STRESS
The Stress Company Ltd helps organisations recognise stress early and respond in a non‑clinical, practical way that supports both neurotypical and neurodivergent employees. We show workplaces how neurodiverse thinking strengthens problem‑solving, innovation and resilience — when the right inclusive structures are in place. By understanding how stress spirals can form at work and at home, including the very real pressures linked to Cassandra‑type experiences, employers can reduce stress and stressors to as low as reasonably practicable. With the right awareness and tools, every person can feel supported, productive and valued, creating healthier teams and healthier households.

Frequently asked questions
It all began with a deep understanding that stress affects everyone - employees, employers, business, customers, families, friends and loved ones.
There are no exceptions and unmanaged stress impacts everything that it touches.
As an employee, a manager, a trade union representative, an enforcer, a qualified health and safety professional, and importantly, a human being, I realised that stress was increasing and was unmanaged - where do you have the conversation, when do you have it, how do you document it, and again, how do you support the person?
All these questions pushed myself and Bren to open The Stress Company Ltd.
Stress is not real!
It is the opposite - it is what makes us produce, strive, thrive and survive.
Stress is normal. Unmanaged stress is not and leads to a multitude of damage that gradually gets worse..
“Why do you take things so literally?”
I take things literally because that’s how my brain processes information — it helps me understand clearly. I’m not being awkward; I’m just interpreting your words exactly as you say them.”
“Why can’t you just act normal?”
“I can’t ‘act normal’ because your version of normal isn’t how my brain works. I’m not choosing to be different — this is simply how I process the world, and I’m doing my best just like you.”
“Isn’t autism/ADHD just an excuse?”
“No — autism or ADHD isn’t an excuse. It’s a real way my brain works, and it affects how I process things. I’m not avoiding responsibility; I just experience the world differently, and understanding that helps me do my best.”
